Can you believe that it’s almost International Financial Independence Day?!
Do you remember when you first learned about the FI/RE concept? If your experience was anything like mine, it was a true epiphany moment!
The idea resonates with so many because of its simplicity. One moment you’re relatively clueless about finances, investing and retirement planning and the next moment you’re starting a blog to tell everyone you know about this mathmagical calculation you just discovered.
Too many people suck at finance
As a personal finance blogger you’re well aware of the dire financial situation that far too many people are in. It’s heartbreaking really, and I believe one way we can help to fix this situation is to bring awareness to the FIRE movement.
I truly believe that the financial rules of thumb behind FIRE can be life changing.
The 4% Rule and the Rule of 25 make it easy to understand retirement planning at a high level. And understanding something makes it less scary.
We’ve all seen people get bitten by the FIRE bug. Hell most of us were bitten by it ourselves! And while is true that not everyone will be able to retire early, FIRE still offers something for everyone.
Introducing International Financial Independence Awareness Day
With that in mind, I’d like to officially introduce International Financial Independence Awareness Day on April 25th.
As in the 4% Rule and the Rule of 25. 😊 And I’d like your help.
Will you help spread the word?
What I’m asking you to do is simple: write a blog post and introduce International Financial Independence Awareness Day to your readers. That’s it!
- Write about what FI (or FIRE) means to you
- Write about the day you learned about the concept & how you felt
- Write about how the idea has changed your life for the better
Write whatever you want really, I’m just hoping that you’ll tell your readers about International Financial Independence Awareness Day and ask them to share your post so that more people can learn.
What’s Going to Happen on 4/25?
Originally I had some really big plans for this, but alas there’s simply not enough time to do what I wanted to. So this first year my goal is simply to introduce International Financial Independence Awareness Day to everyone.
Then I’ll work year round to bring some media attention to this Day and next year we’ll do this thing up big! But it all starts with help from you.
So what do you say? Are you up to wring a post and publishing it on April 25th?
What International Financial Independence Awareness Day is NOT
Also, I think it’s important to call out, that this is not going to be a Camp FIRE Finance thing or a Get Rich Quick’ish thing. International Financial Independence Awareness Day will be a stand alone project.
Update: the artwork is done! Logos are below (and a site
is coming soon is here!) I’m working to get an official official logo designed for this and it will NOT have any of my other blog’s branding in there. If you’d like to use this logo in your post just let me know.
Also, if you decide to write a post, be sure to share your link with me so that I can link back to yours. So to wrap this up, let me ask you one more time: will you write a blog post introducing International Financial Independence Awareness Day to your readers and publish it on April 25th?.
- Please let me know if you’ve got any questions about this or would like to participate in another way
- Please share this post with your blogging network so that others can write/participate
- email me your questions to ty at this blog’s domain DOT NET or send me at Twitter message @getrichquickish
