Not the hours you wish you had. Not the hours your cousin claims she works. The number on the calendar between your day job, sleep, and the rest of your life. Five is a perfectly fine answer.

The calculator is the most-used tool on our site, which is exactly why it has the tightest rules. We update it quarterly, peer-review it internally, and link every model back to source data. Here's what we promise to never slip in:

It will never quote a "guaranteed income" for any side hustle.
Every estimate is a median drawn from 25+ verified reader reports, with a confidence band. Anyone who promises you a specific number is selling you something. We are not.

It will never use the phrase "passive income" without the active hours required.
If a model shows you a low-effort number, the hours field below it tells you exactly how many hours per week 312 readers actually worked to get there. We do not hide the labor.

It will never show an unverifiable before-and-after screenshot.
Every dollar in our model is tracked in our public reader income report spreadsheet (1,847 entries since 2019). Our "No Fake Screenshots" policy has cost us $180K in ad revenue we refused in 2022 alone. Worth it.

It will never conflate gross revenue with take-home profit.
When a model shows you a 12-month revenue estimate, the methodology page linked below it shows the average costs, fees, software, and taxes our readers reported paying out of that number. We do the subtraction for you.
